We don't call legal citizens "legals." So why do people call non-citizens "illegals"?
It's because it's used as a dehumanizing and racist slur. They know it, and history will deprecate it as such. People who throw the word around won't be viewed kindly by future generations.

Until I do my safety plan, I'm vulnerable. US citizens are being blackbagged by ICE & they won't stop w "suspected gang members." That's the lie to justify removing rights. Me & my trans fam will be targets. The govt will accuse us of who-knows-what to send us who-knows-where.

When the right invokes DEI as a pejorative, they're using it as a slur against marginalized and vulnerable groups. It's their new 'n' word, and I think history will look on it as such.
