I write, teach, move about Latin America & the Caribbean. CARIBBEAN INHOSPITALITY, https://www.rutgersuniversitypress.org/caribbean-inhospitality/9781978838291/
It feels strange to celebrate in these dark times. Yet ☝🏾Two days before its official pub date, my book has been #1 on Amazon’s new releases in Caribbean and Latin American literary criticism.🤭🫢 😮I know these rankings are arbitrary. Thanks to those who’ve preordered. So much went into writing this.

My book, Caribbean Inhospitality, considers what Caribbean literature, film, and digital culture can tell us sovereignty and belonging, especially in our current global crisis. I start with the Caribbean’s violent origins as a place of hospitality to strangers and look to the present.

I’m loving this yatch rock documentary. It’s poetry fo my Gen-X soul. 🥰 I wish my friend Leigh were here so that we could sing to Toto together. #YatchRockHBO

This is HUGE. That photo brings back so many memories of when we the people—students, faculty, teachers, and other workers across Madison and Wisconsin—marched and occupied the Capitol for weeks after Walker rescinded collective bargaining. The damage he did really paved the way for That Man.
