I also just cannot believe how much midwest cfb fans love travelling half way across the country for away games. It's insane. Skip that for a year and you could go to Greece for a few weeks

Cfb has absolutely poisoned this university and it just gets worse every year.

Reading through Harper’s archive and the prose from even 60 years ago is much easier to read and to orate to someone else. It really seems like contemporary articles are not meant to be read aloud

I feel like the core conference ranking does way more harm than good - especially for the borderline A/B ranked conferences

The way "student life" is marketed to the median suburban american who is desperately wants a better life for their kid and is rapidly forgetting that you can engage in the world in manner other than consuming - all the while draining "academia" any remaining substance is so sad and demoralising

Thinking back to how insane grad school applications are. Pay $100 to find out if a prof will just use you as another cog in his lab or if he actually cares about his students

Welt pocket I worked on this weekend. I dont have interfacing - I just backed it with the lining material - and I wasn't able to keep the material from fraying on the corners so I hand-sewed a tack around the corners as well

Spent a little reading about pattern making. Starting out with a pretty ambitious project. A blanket lined denim coat. The lining is really heavy so I’m quilting it in green silk. I decided to add a cuff with the selvedge

I don’t know what the admin in my department do or why there are so many. Seemingly more of them than grad students. What do they even organize?
