NO DM, MEN NO-NOT INTERESTED-WILL BLOCK
This is my dad Al & his sis Ida & that’s my mom Nan. They met in SF at a USO dance - my dad was stationed in Hawaii after the attack. She had lost her fiancée in the Pacific, he saw unspeakable things. They loved this country enough to feel pain for it. We can’t let their suffering be for naught.

It’s been a while. Not up to snuff yet dealing with more health issues. Sewing, no matter what it is, helps me cope with the sadness/stress of this deplorable regime and all the bad things they do. No to ICE, No to concentration camps, No to bad budgets, No to tariffs, No kings in the US, No to DJT!

I haven’t posted in a while due to an illness. I’m recouping well now and 2 of my kids gave me a day’s work in my garden as a birthday present. Flowers and plants soon to come. My hands in the earth on Earth Day!!!

Love and light. Take care of yourselves and those you love. I hope you find a little joy today!

Tide pools look altogether different off season. Sea grasses are brown, the water is icy cold and crystal clear. It just doesn’t feel right. Much like our government right now - it just doesn’t feel right. I yearn for better days, warmer days. Stay safe on your marches today everyone. Resist!

Fusing and stitching the first two back to back book pages. Can’t wait to get into the transparency of the jellies. Trying so hard not to give in to the terror and fear of tyranny. I have a DJT follower in my family and it’s ripping us apart. How are some of you coping with that? Feeling isolated. 😳

Feeling a little “growl-y” tonight for some reason. So I found the wolf, the dragon and the cougar. All 3 are older quilts. Not liking that the Smithsonian has become a target of DJT now. Growl!!! Don’t mess with our arts!

My SSA pmt went thru today. I get paid last Wed of every mo. I’m relieved to get it this month. Anybody out there missing their payment?April’s pmt could be sketchy, call Congress daily to intercede & if you are in one of the districts where there is a vote on April 1, please help get out the vote .

Political insanity has driven me to my studio daily. Update on Kelp lll is that all the machine stitching is done and I have begun couching in the green fronds with wool and cotton threads. Night activity with TV binging. I’m starting Balena’s book cover, cutting and fusing pieces. Sewing soon.

What is going on with Social Security? Acting Soc. Sec Head, Leland Dudek threatened, "I want to turn it off." 🔥 (shut down SSI payments to 73 million), in response to Judge's ruling yesterday blocking activities by EM & DOGE. Bloomberg News. Have you got your payment yet? Feeling angry & worried!

Boy it’s been a tough week for us average people! How much more can this horrid regime take away and break! I’m attempting focusing not only on studio work but it’s getting springy outside. Long walks clear my head. Snowdrops make me hopeful. Here, have some snowdrops on me….

Sometimes progress just takes time. I keep telling myself that as I eke out small steps in my studio. One step in front of the other brings us to a new place. Change is inevitable. Change will happen in the studio & in the world. Control what you can, let go of what you can’t. Breathe. Light & love.

What do you do when your entire lifestyle and existence is threatened? Besides congressional phone lines on speed dial, angry letters, and sending money to elect people in other states? I make messes in my studio, sew a lot, draw a lot, and plan a lot. Dig in people, it’s our future. Love and light.

Ready for stitch. This is a 2 week project. 1st week cutting and piecing. Done. This piece will entail a different technique, yarn couching on the surface, to create leaf texture. Political mess has me deep diving into creativity to uncover my strength and sanity. #art #quiltsky

Trying so hard to channel love, light and hope. A new piece emerges with more kelp. Planning stages of a future exhibit. Future? I am worried the US is going down like a sinking ship. Fight, protest, resist - our freedom, our lives depend on our resolve, now.

Everyday I feel a bit like this, hiding in the kelp. Our United States is such a political mess. Here are two pieces; the first a detail from Invisible and the second called Habitat-Kelp. Both focus on the need for healthy kelp forest habitats with Balena the mermaid and a sea otter. #art #quiltsky

The artist is feeling a little “black” today for obvious reasons. But I’m honoring Dr Martin Luther King Jr with his words today, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Wishing all of you love and light today. Peace 🕊️

I always forget how much time is involved in the piecing and cutting and ironing….before you get to play with the threads. One of my minis is close to being ready for thread painting. Feels so good to be playing with color. Took my mind off of judicial disappointments today. #art #quiltsky

I’ve taken a few weeks for family holiday time. It has been a nice respite. My family always know what kind of things I love to find under the tree. Hubs gave me a plethora of colored thread. Oooh baby! I’m just itching to start in. And tomorrow is studio time ALL day long 😁 #art #quiltsky #threads

My husband called the social corner of my studio “cozy” the other day. I collect fun memorabilia about bees, Scotland, old buttons, nests-feathers-seeds from my property, artwork, toys & tins, old Christmas trinkets. Together they make “cozy”. Hope you are taking time to enjoy your winter holidays.

I discovered uranium buttons this weekend in response to a customer in my Etsy shop. I’ve been collecting buttons about 10 years now and never run across this. Shine a black light on antique white glass and if it glows green, it is made with uranium. Only trace amounts. It’s a treasure hunt for me.

My little 5” x 5” landscapes are beginning. On the top right I have begun to work fabrics for a beach scene. I should be ready to sew that one soon. Picked up some frames for them so they can go into my shop when they’re done. Can you tell I love split rail fences. #art #quiltsky

I don’t know how people in very rainy places like Seattle or the UK keep a sunny disposition. I’m struggling with only one week of rain. My need for sunnier times has me looking through some older touched up Cape Cod landscapes for inspiration for the next set of 5” mini quilts. #art #quiltsky

Named “Luna”, there is something about this one I have loved from the start. Perhaps it’s the scrumptious hand dyed fabrics of the moth, or maybe the texture of the tree. But whatever, it’s one of my heart’s favorites. #art #quiltsky
