This is my dad Al & his sis Ida & that’s my mom Nan. They met in SF at a USO dance - my dad was stationed in Hawaii after the attack. She had lost her fiancée in the Pacific, he saw unspeakable things. They loved this country enough to feel pain for it. We can’t let their suffering be for naught.

My dad and my aunt as he was leaving home to be stationed in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, after the attack. Dad saw all the destruction and was a radio decoder. Up late at night, listening to the airwaves, with the weight of the world on his shoulders as another attack was expected. A high school sepia photo of a girl in the late 1930’s. My mother, Nan, was raised on a ranch, Bonnie Brae, north of San Francisco. She met Woody in high school. They were going to marry after the war. He was a hot shot pilot, who enlisted right away and was stationed on a ship in the Pacific. The ship went down with him on it never to be seen again. Mom was devastated. She met Al in a USO event in San Francisco when he had a brief furlough after being sent to Pearl Harbor. They wrote to each other for the two years he was stationed there. Both mom & dad had lost due to the war. But both were patriots and loved this country. They were part of a flood of patriots who fought for freedom in World War ll. We owe it to every soldier killed and every woman working at home to support the effort throughout that time in history, to protect our country now as the framework of our democracy is under attack. Mom and dad are rolling in their graves, from the knowledge of the blatant authoritarian regime, so much like Hitler’s takeover of Germany, which is threatening our country. We need to stand united against authoritarianism and fascism as it has reared its ugly head here in the US. For those we love here and past.

It’s been a while. Not up to snuff yet dealing with more health issues. Sewing, no matter what it is, helps me cope with the sadness/stress of this deplorable regime and all the bad things they do. No to ICE, No to concentration camps, No to bad budgets, No to tariffs, No kings in the US, No to DJT!

Reps’ “death bill” will trigger 500B cuts to Medicare. Yes Medicare. 800B in cuts to Medicaid & roughly 279B cuts to SNAP because of PAYGO, which stands for “pay as you go,” - a budget rule requiring tax cuts & mandatory spending increases must be offset by tax hikes or cuts in mandatory spending.

A friend’s HS kid’s are young scientists & have an ask for letter writing to your Reps & Senators. It’s about protecting estuaries -NOAA and especially NERRS, (National Estuarine Research Reserve System). It’s a small thing but you can help 2 kids make a difference.

I haven’t posted in a while due to an illness. I’m recouping well now and 2 of my kids gave me a day’s work in my garden as a birthday present. Flowers and plants soon to come. My hands in the earth on Earth Day!!!

Tide pools look altogether different off season. Sea grasses are brown, the water is icy cold and crystal clear. It just doesn’t feel right. Much like our government right now - it just doesn’t feel right. I yearn for better days, warmer days. Stay safe on your marches today everyone. Resist!

Fusing and stitching the first two back to back book pages. Can’t wait to get into the transparency of the jellies. Trying so hard not to give in to the terror and fear of tyranny. I have a DJT follower in my family and it’s ripping us apart. How are some of you coping with that? Feeling isolated. 😳

Will be using this drawing to cut out pattern pieces in batiste and organza to make the jellyfish.

Copied all my SSA verifications and documents off the SSA website in the case that I may have to prove this information in the future. But that is being positive. More likely EM will just smash the system and grab all our hard earned retirement funds. 🤬🤬🤬

Feeling a little “growl-y” tonight for some reason. So I found the wolf, the dragon and the cougar. All 3 are older quilts. Not liking that the Smithsonian has become a target of DJT now. Growl!!! Don’t mess with our arts!

My heart is hurting this morning seeing that horrible, evil, woman in front of America’s Nazi concentration camp for Latino men. W.T.F. This has to stop! NOW! Before it’s too late to stop it. Another woman was disappeared from Tuft’s in Boston. Soon it will be all of us who dare to speak up. 💔
