I support more funding for the Irish Defence Forces. Better pay and conditions to begin with. Then investment in necessary equipment - especially that needed for UN peacekeeping missions.

Has every country in the region being members of NATO prevented sabotage in the Baltic Sea? No. Prevented drones disrupting airports as far away as Belgium? No. So, it has nothing to do with it. Membership wouldn't help us but would certainly make us more of a target.

But it doesn't. They're not neutral. We are. That's that. That's how it's been since independence. Independence we fought for. From the island to our East which still occupies part of our country. That island being a NATO member which loves fighting wars.

Mc/Mac are Irish too. Used in Ireland before Scotland. Gaeilge (Irish) and Gàidhlig (Scots Gaelic) are sister languages.
