Today’s the launch of @tvotoday.bsky.social (MIS)Treated, a podcast on women’s health. Thank you for the support & messages🙏❤️. About 7% of Canada’s federal spending goes to women’s health & women weren’t included in clinical trials until 1993 in USA and 1997 in Canada m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Oco...

The last few months have been the most rewarding professionally but also frightening 🙈 because I want to get this right. Women’s health has been historically underfunded & under researched. The ripple effects impact our health, personal and professional lives. Look for (MIS)Treated Sept 30th on TVO.

A woman in Canada waited 11 years for a gynaecological diagnosis!! Women’s health is under funded and under researched. In Sept, I’ll be hosting a podcast on women’s health and how we got here. I hope you can listen to (MIS)Treated on TVO.

Took my kids & niece to Caribana. It’s the first time I’ve been in awhile as I’ve been dealing with health problems the last few years. Toronto has become a hard city to live but Caribana’s a reminder of what makes it so unique & special. Grateful to live in a city that celebrates multiculturalism.

Women in Canada have had to travel abroad because the wait times are long & some procedures are not available here. A woman in NS spent $50k USD. Why aren’t we talking about this? I’m working on a new project for TVO on women’s health. If you have a story you’d like to share, email nkiwanuka@tvo.org

Even though Toronto has opened up cooling spaces, there are more than 10,000 unhoused people in this city. And most public schools in Ontario are only partially air conditioned in the office. A screenshot of the temps today, 34 and what it actually feels like, 45. www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/arti...

I’m hoping they’re visible tonight. I saw them last year and they were incredible. This was from my backyard in Scarborough.

a Canadian researcher who has been called a “godfather” of AI, says “a sandwich has more regulation than AI.” I wrote about why with the excitement of AI we need to listen & enact the lessons we’ve learned from social media @tvotoday.bsky.social

Life is lifing right now. I took a long walk after work today. On any day, the Scarborough Bluffs are so beautiful but today I saw a Heron in person for the first time and I was mesmerized. How lucky are we that this is in Ontario? 😍 Listen to all of those beautiful sounds🥰

Much appreciation to RTDNA Canada for nominating #TVOTheThread for Investigative Excellence. We always centre the lived experiences of Ontarians and it means a lot to receive this recognition. For this housing episode, we featured the voices of those in encampments👇

It was important to me to take my kids with me to vote today. I was born during a civil war in a country where people are still fighting for the right to vote. A short line to cast vote. Advance polling ends this Monday. Election day April 28th. For what you need to vote and where: www.elections.ca

Thank you CP24 Breakfast for the interest #TVOTheThread. Tonight’s ep we speak to a group of teen girls from Toronto, whose images were manipulated into non-consensual images by a classmate. Why can’t the law keep up with technology & what are the impacts of deepfakes? @tvotoday.bsky.social 730pm
