Capitalism has no interest in people, so if boards think the profit is in mostly automated data centers, GPUs made in China, and upselling integrated chatbots, then goodbye engineers. The tragedy is that so many CS degrees were designed for a specific labor market, instead of for life.

This follows the National Institutes of Health canceling its grant review panels earlier.
