I play a lot of my hex and counter games this way! TBH, I often prefer playing both sides, as it gives me a better appreciation of the full game versus a set of specialized solo rules.

That's good to hear. Previous versions were almost unanimously panned for being difficult to understand. I play my fair share of heavy and complicated games, but some fundamental concepts in FoF were eluding me. I may try again!

I owned a copy of the 1st edition and was disappointed by the learning experience. I struggled around radio communication and the concept of the Battalian HQ. I traded it away, but I've been thinking about Deluxe. Sounds like it improves and clarifies the learning experience.

Thank goodness I was worried this one might be too captivating.
