It's weird seeing people talk about how "maybe we shouldn't alienate our base by talking about climate change" while watching yet another rapid intensification hurricane reach the status of one of the most intense ever recorded in the Atlantic, make a Category 5 landfall in the Caribbean.

Those who think the Reagan ads were a bad idea for having irrationally annoyed the president for reasons having nothing to do with their merits are, I assume, writing urgent letters to the Toronto Blue Jays organization urging them to lose the World Series for the same reason

As a kid, we were on food stamps and used the food bank. I was on food stamps again while working my way through college. Both times they allowed us to stay fed and housed without having to make that choice of one or the other.

I can't imagine what life would have been like without that safety net.

I grew up poor enough that we didn’t have running water for a significant portion of my childhood.

Food stamps were literally the difference between eating and not.

I grew up, went to college & now have a fulfilling professional career. Without food assistance I might not be here today.
