AG opinion in EDPS v SRB is out. First thoughts: disappointing. 1) The AG seems to have muddied the waters as to status of data after pseudonymisation (it has been: it is still personal, since pseudonymisation might be privacy-preserving but is not anonymisation; now it is: it can be anonymous?) 1/x

I have just learnt of Prof. Dan Burk’s passing news.law.uci.edu/2024/02/05/i... I had a privilege of attending his keynote at a TILTing conf in early postdoc years. He was inspiring and generous. His last ssrn upload was on 20 Dec’23 on asemic AI speech & defamation papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

I wondered why Philip Agre didn’t publish since early 2000s & if he passed. Then I read on Wikipedia that he chose to live a very secluded life & withdrew from academia. And I might even get it. I have no idea what actually happened. What have we missed without his scholarship in the past 20 years.
