This will also depend on how many States still care about the constitution, but yes, the people hold the power, and should. Constitutionally. Hold the power. We need a 'good enough' unity (if to borrow from Winnicot). It doesn't even have to be total unity. Just a 'good enough' one. To matter.

It is okay to take a day (or portions of one) to not adult quite so much... when you can, take a not-adulting-break. Buy ice cream with colorful toppings, sit on the swing, play with a puppy, dance to a song, take a nap, be silly with a friend, have a pajama party, color outside the lines.

It seems they prefer to NOT have exact science (easier to general 'alternative facts' when there is less actual fact to 'confuse' the issue), and that they don't particularly care if there are lives impacted, or terrible consequences. It is about control, not good data.
