I’ve been in the agency for almost 20 years. In my building, not 1 controller or manager worked every day during the shutdown. If Duffy fired all of the employees that were absent even 1 day during the shutdown, it would be economic collapse.

I’m an air traffic controller, and I took a total of 8 days of absence during the shutdown. 4 days for a vacation that I bid on and had reservations for from 10 months prior, 1 day for my oldest son’s 5th birthday, Halloween (5 and 2 year olds) and 2 sick days because my wife was 7+ months pregnant
