The only way we can solve this mystery is the knowledge that anytime we multiply something by zero, the answer is zero. So, if either expression is, itself, equal to zero, then then we have a possible solution. 1.6 or, as Johan stated in fraction form, is one of these.

There are two things, or expressions, in parentheses that each contain an a, and they are multiplied together to equal zero, if the equation is true.
