What has helped me is reorienting my focus to local—news, shopping, events—a few years ago.
Keeps relationships close and meaningful.
Less instinct for (and invitation to) constant combat.
More room for curiosity.
Fundamentally, this approach has made me both happier and more effective.

What's going on with the new followers? Another mass exodus of the hellsite? I haven't looked at it in a while. Also, FWIW, I'm still very happy with Mastodon - I recommended you all explore it too, while you're looking at alternatives. I find the algorithm-less life is better, and following
