New photos of the East Wing's demolition have emerged.

It looks as though the White House, the seat of power in the US, has suffered a traumatic amputation.

And instead of blood lost, the US is losing integrity, the respect of other nations, and the trust of its own citizens.

What’s happening inside the GOP and MAGA reminds me a lot of the death of Scar in The Lion King. 🧵

Because I’ve been obsessively playing Hades 2, I FINALLY got a translation of The Orphic Hymns, and I CAN’T believe I waited this long to dig into the Orphic Myths.

In fact, forget the Wikipedia and the blackjack.
...Eh, screw the whole thing.

🧵 Outsourcing your vengeance doesn’t absolve your complicity.

The mental gymnastics of Christian Nationalism is astounding in how awful it is.

Allie Stuckey offers her audience comfort in their complicity, allowing them to hate others, even though their scripture tells them to do the opposite.

Love scrolling and seeing a headline that says, “14 Greek Mythology Movies That Still Stand the Test of Time” and the main image is of the movie Troy.

So out of curiosity I wanted to see if the Watergate Hotel from the Nixon scandal is still around (it is).

And I saw they have a “scandal suite” for the room from the scandal and I shit you not one of the robes in the robe for guests to wear says “cover up” with the watergate logo.

Not me falling down a rabbit hole of finding every folklore reference in K-Pop Demon Hunters:

“No one sees death.

No one sees the face of death,

No one hears the voice of death.

But it is savage death that snaps mankind.

How similar our death and abduction,

And one cannot draw the image of death.

Yet no one has ever greeted a dead man.”

It was only after that I figured out that this is how to “auto block” a list!

Sharing this info in case I’m not actually the last person on Bluesky to figure this out.

Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if I were actually one of the last people to know this! 😆

Successful and peaceful #NoKings protest in Lees Summit MO.

It was so beautiful to see SO MANY people in a smaller Kansas City suburb calling out the tyranny in Washington.

Stay hydrated and stay safe out there fellow protesters! 💙❌👑

I posted a thread about using strategy games to create a narrative of foresight in chosen political figures LITERALLY YESTERDAY.

Here's a more recent example:
“I think Trump might be working in tandem with Elon here to tank his own bill in a 4D chess move!” Carl Higbie said in a Newsmax segment.

Only just started Empire of AI by @karenhao.bsky.social and already feel shell shocked by the opening.

Required reading and definitely a book recommendation!

Cat Jarman, a bioarchaeologist specializing in the Viking Age, explains the significance of a warrior woman’s grave containing the game in her book, River Kings:

“At Birka, Bj.581 [the buried woman] had a complete set, which has been taken as evidence of her role in planning military strategy.”

I’ve been adding more contemporary romance novels lately as a way to combat the floods of bad news and I have to say, it’s been helpful!

So, I just got “Flirting with Disaster” by Naina Kumar.

It’s been on my TBR list for a while because of its great concept and name!

As we continue into this new form of authoritarian govt in the US, it's becoming clear that the most basic yet most effective form of resistance is developing critical thinking and reading widely.

Anything to continue your education--whether that's inside a classroom or out.

Forgot to add the pic of the audiobook to my original post. Gah! Hopefully we’ll be able to edit posts on Bluesky at some point!

I just finished The Acid Queen by Susannah Cahalan

I admit, the cover and title are what drew me in since my knowledge of psychedelics and the 60s-70s are very limited.

I enjoyed listening to Rosemary’s life story! Happy that she is finally getting some of the recognition she deserves.
