Believe it or not, this long, luminous streak, speckled with bright blisters and pockets of material, is a spiral galaxy like our Milky Way.

It is oriented directly edge-on to us

For my friends in the USA: I like to think the M16 nebula could be a metaphor for the true fabric of the USA. M16 is a large nebula in the shape of a formidable Eagle - at its heart are the famous Pillars of Creation.

For those who missed it, this recent image from Webb's NIRCam features a part of the Leo P dwarf galaxy (the blue stars at lower right) along with countless other galaxies in the background.

Hubble still got our back whenever we feel overwhelmed! 🔭

This is the NGC-2442 galaxy (~50 million light years away), as seen by Hubble in 2021.

To be honest, I think that this is one of my best processed Hubble image to this day 😊

I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:

“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.
