As one of the decision makers behind Denmark's purchase of F35's, I regret it.

The USA can certainly disable the planes by simple stopping the supply of spare parts. They want to strengthen Russia and weaken Europa and are showing that they are willing to do tremendous damage to peaceful and loyal allies like Canada just because they insist on existing as a country.

I can easily imagine a situation where the USA will demand Greenland from Denmark and will threaten to deactivate our weapons and let Russia attack us when we refuse (which we will even in that situation).

Therefore, buying American weapons is a security risk that we can not run. We will make enormous investments in air defence, fighter jets, artillery and other weapons in the coming years, and we must avoid American weapons if at all possible.

I encourage our allies and friends to do the same.

You start doing shit. Maybe you already have, maybe you haven't, it's not an assumption of you when I say that.
I get that people need leaders. They need to get over that. They need to have gotten over that years ago. It was eight years ago that Obama gave his farewell address and basically told us we needed to learn to do shit ourselves if we wanted to stop this. How many leaders need to tell us this to our faces before we stop looking for leaders and just do it ourselves.
South Korea just took a coup and shoved it up their president's ass. They didn't require any leaders to tell their people what to do, they just did it.

We have leaders, elected and otherwise. We have Ocasio-Cortez. We have Warren, Markey, Clinton, Sanders. None of them have shut up, none of them stopped. They're still chugging away. We have as many leaders as we could ever want, we just keep asking for more in the navel-gazing hope that if we get +1 bag-of-leaders someone magical will come along and do this shit for us.
We don't need leaders, nor do we need a thousand points of light. We just need motherfuckers who can make a call once a day the first week, and two calls a day the next, and then attend a meet-up the week after, and step by step by step. That's not anything special. A few calls per person, a meeting here and there, that's a point of light? I wish I could ask folks to be a point of light, but what I'm asking is jack shit, and that jack shit, if everybody did it, could still move mountains and I worry if we can even rise to that level.
We're fucking spoiled for leaders. We have more leaders than we know what to do with. We have so many leaders we'll have your faction of leaders against our faction of leaders with a bunch more leaders seeing who comes out on top, without ever even leaving the damn party. What would we do with one more

And yet all those leaders are gasping for support, for people to show up, for involvement. The leaders - and especially the ones whose names no one's ever going to remember - they never stopped, not even under Biden, but they sure as hell wore themselves out when involvement went dry.
Sorry to go off. It is not at you personally. But I am sick of us needing leaders to focus our energy. If we still need that at this point, then we are plain out fucked because we haven't learned a single fucking thing in the last decade. We either know to do this now ourselves, or we don't. That is the equation. That is the win/loss. It is not complex.
Does that suck? One more damn thing to rise to meet? Sure. It being a shit hand does not change the fact that it must be done. And if a job has to be done by us, we either do it, or it doesn't get done. That's it. I have repeated this every way I know how for 9 years, and still we want to pretend like hey, some as yet undiscovered leader will be spied by the glowing orb of bullshit fuckall and diamond-in-the-rough themselves into doing all the work we've put off so we can feel smart about having put it off.
I don't need a leader, I don't need a thousand points of light, I need motherfuckers who look at what needs to be done that day and do it, so the burden of the most basic tasks gets shared.
