Candidate for Calgary City Council, Ward 7
With your help we can bring it home on Monday, but I need your vote and your voice. Tell a friend. Get a sign. Post about it. Now is the time to get loud and show the true power of grassroots community organizing. There’s no “I” in Myke.

Let’s do this! 💛

Best speaker of the bunch. Spoke without notes and had a firm grasp of issues and great ideas to solve. Seemed like someone you’d like to work with.

I highly recommend you take a read through my answers to their survey to get a sense of my values and priorities around housing. You’ll also notice one candidate’s name is completely absent from the list of respondents.

It’s not always easy to champion ideas within groups opposed to your point of view, but I believe this is critical work to start helping to elevate the conversation beyond for/against and into finding ways to move forward together.

I even answered the survey from “Calgarians for Thoughtful Growth,” a local advocacy group focused on repealing citywide rezoning.

Not only do I champion inner city growth like transit-oriented development, but I’m willing to have those important discussions with those who are of opposing points of view at the doors to help find common ground and build a way forward from the current housing situation we’re in.

If we throw that “actually” into the name doesn’t it now become the 6A network?

I’m down for the change to the “actually always accessible for all ages and abilities” of it gets us one more A’s worth of funding (actually…). 😆

Scooter parking is interesting too as a way to help with clutter on the sidewalks.

It’s not necessarily about revoking (we do need protections for our tree canopy), but making sure the bylaw is right-sized to enable the desired outcomes. For example, are there creative solutions like pool noodle protections that can meet the needs of both tree protection and neighbourhood play?
