I'M GOING TO SPEND IT - G.W. BUSH'S SOCIAL SECURITY PLAN Of course political capital was what George W. Bush was talking about, and spend it he did pushing a social security plan that failed by all accounts.

All about #emoluments: George Washington's Mill, John Jay's Horse. I already did this episode in 2017, no need to edit as history repeats! www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect...

even the 1990 monument some felt was a little light, seemed to give no agency to anyone for the killings. I am of mixed opinion, liking some minimalism.

Monument? Of the shootings? No, at first Kent wanted to forget. in 1978 it went ahead with plans for a gym in spots where students were shot (not those that died), and encouraged 1978 students to protest for a gym against the 1970 alumni's wishes.

Kent State 1970. Anymore, I will only post this photo blurred. Because I know too much (after researching my recent episode) about Jeffrey Miller (the victim) and Mary Ann Vecchio (shouting) to want to protect them some. Jeffrey was a young man who played drums and wanted peace...

he wasn't that inspiring then either, looking at the crowd. Mostly getting hot dogs.

Oh a rich discovery - In 1984 Peter Navarro savaged Walter Mondale for pursuing protectionism - that he was captured by poor-thinking special interests.

It's not my job to help the GOP, but if it were, I'd say: Do you really want to run a Walter Mondale 1984 campaign?

"One man could stop the carnage, by allowing a vote of the House. He won't." There's the ad.

Oh believe me, it's all worth it for this photo given the weeks we've had and the smugness of MAGA's approach.

Now I realize. This man was just trying to tell us how the markets were going to go, in a gesture!

"We call a tariff a protective measure. It does protect; it protects the consumer very well against one thing. It protects the consumer against low prices. And yet we call it protection." - Milton Friedman.

While I don't like "the other place" have GREATLY reduced signs-ins to just a few authors I follow, I must brag that being R/Td by Joyce Carol Oates is an accomplishment.

OK, so Trump and allies "flooding the zone." What do Football coaches do? any lessons there?
February 16, 2025 at 5:03 PM
Some of these are not applicable, but essentially it comes down to recognizing the most critical attacks and defending - using your manpower against the flood (can't just have one person responding to 3 threats) in football called "man to man." It also involves not having a zone to flood.

I see an article

No dice, JSTOR or Google Books.

So this is a Times of London from that day for comparison - style might be different.

Yes that checks - Scalia was a vote in Synder v. Phelps protecting the speech of the nutter funeral protests. Of all people Alito dissented. And it's about the only thing that man has written I agreed with.

You mean this - CONs were at 44 last week. Pretty big shift upward. second life for a party that shouldn't have one. If present trends, you get coalition. Thanks Trump.

Not that NY Mayors have always been popular... See Koch asked for the crowd's wish, and 2/3rds said remove the egg thrower, and they did. (Koch was big with show of hands thing. Years of little local Village political meetings.)
