Without the outline some of the languages use alternative font, so less useful for colouring. But maybe better for showing the differences between languages.

Which would you pick? And as a bonus, what instructions would you write above the image? :)

I can see that part of his frustration is the working memory issue and going over ten can be a struggle. But it's the instant disengagement that gets me :(

I'm often saddened by how dismissive my son can be to exploring alternative approaches. We were doing sums today and rather than the column method I suggested we use the abacus. After one go he decided it makes no sense and refused to listen to any further explanation.

He might not always enjoy the extra work, but the smile on his face as he was promoted to the 'writing pen' was payment enough.

As parents, we were the ones who noticed he wasn't reading - instead he just memorised the books. As the little things piled up I realised we had to do more at home. Eventually the school did pick up on some of the issues too, but he'd be so much more behind by then.

But at the same time, as a parent you are there seeing things others might not. At an eye test we nearly missed a diagnosis because my son's lazy eye only showed up when he unfocused. Which I only learned after the doc finally saw it and connected the dots.

Maybe it's normal that the letters show up backwards. Maybe it's normal that 5 was constantly mirrored. Maybe boy's handwriting is just worse and I'm expecting too much.
