Exploring mycorrhizal types and their impacts on forests 🍄🌳 Université de Sherbrooke ⚜️ Vancouvérois 🏔️ Aspiring Ent🌲

Trying to escape the cesspool that is The Artist Formerly Known As Twitter.
Near Sherbrooke (QC) in early July? Then stop by the CSEE on the 7th of July for a presentation open to any and all - registered or not! You can't go through the summer in this region without being prepared for ticks - why not learn an extra thing or two?!

Back home in #supernaturalbritishcolumbia for a bit - oh how I’ve missed the West!!

Got the chance to give my first presentation on my project exploring dominant mycorrhizal types and their impacts on the mycobiomes of the sugar maple and eastern hemlock! Still lots of work to go (results-wise) but it was an awesome experience - the CEF family is awesome!

I spent my earth day working with these weirdos - such a fun and mysterious group of organisms!

I don’t only love mycorrhizae - meet Treasure! My beautiful baby, once found in a garbage can (not by me) and the absolute apple of my eye. #cat #catsofbluesky

We had our 4 à mycète last week and it was a huge success!

Fungi and art are natural allies, and it was great to showcase some of our local artists and their fungal creations - and our chanterelle beer flew like hotcakes!

All said and done, we raised $400+ for the future fungarium at UdeS 🍄💚🍄💚

I took this penicillium out of the neighbouring lab’s French press 😂

Playing with some (eastern) hemlock roots - Douglas-fir and Western red cedar got some stiff competition for favourite tree these days 😂

(Still using twitter, forgive me if this is a repeat for you 😅)

Trying to be more present here - my favourite fungi from this fall (jealous of my friends out west right now)!

Howdy! I’m an MSc student at the Université de Sherbrooke in Québec, Canada. I am in the lab of Dr. Isabelle Laforest-Lapointe, where I’m exploring the impact of dominant forest mycorrhizal types on soil biogeochemical processes and microbial communities

Looking forward to talking fungi avec vous!
