Asclepias exaltata. Similar to Common Milkweed but much more tolerant of partial to shade. Poke Milkweed can range in height from 2-6', and while it does spread, it is not aggressive. It prefers moist soil but will take average soil as well.

Happiest in full sun. Standing water to spongy soils are ideal, as this plant can be used to stabilize soil on a river or ponds edge.

Eupatorium maculatum 'Little Pye'- a dwarf Joe Pye Weed. I potted these up today. This is a new plant Introduction to the plant world that I was curious about. These are only supposed to be 12-15" in the garden. Time will tell, a miniature Joe Pye Weed would surely be interesting...!

Liatris pycnostachya is great for all sorts of pollinators.Topping out at 3-5', Prairie Blazing Star is happiest in full sun. It is a facultative plant but does not tolerate wet soils through the winter. It shows good critter resistance, and I can testify that it is drought and clay site tolerant.
