Remarkably, flu all but disappeared from circulation for the first two years of the COVID pandemic, & one entire influenza B lineage went extinct.

But did COVID have a lasting impact on patterns of other viruses?

Or does it just feel that way?

Vaccines are vital. Masks (n95 or p100) are community care.

And we can also clean the air! Quoted post is re hospital air. This article is re school air.

We have the tools.
Make them use them.

Contact local officials, schools, hospitals, etc. Demand health & disability justice. #CleanTheAir

The "debate is not only about chemistry — it is about context. The privilege of questioning fluoride’s role exists only where other forms of care are already accessible."

While debates in the U.S. rage about potential overexposure to fluoride, people worldwide still lack basic access to it.

The CDC's confirmed measles cases have only increased by 23 from last week, and there's only been 5 confirmed in Texas since May 1st. Most reporting I've seen emphasizes the sheer number of total cases, but imo we should focus on the slowdown for the past few weeks which is definitely a good sign.

I feel like this is not their primary goal—they are absolutely lowering longevity but this is too indirect to be true. The key is that this decrease in longevity specifically manifests as a disproportionate increase in disease burden for marginalized groups, something they are definitely aware of.
I believe every Trump/Project 2025 move has a benefit to the far right, some less obvious. For example, besides satisfying RW pandemic anger over lockdowns, vaccines, elites, and scientists, the cuts in public health and health research will lower longevity. That means reduced social security costs.

leave it to the Times to speculate on AI deserving human rights after spending years degrading the rights of pick a marginalized group.
“Can ChatGPT experience joy or suffering? Does Gemini deserve human rights?” our tech columnist asks. “Many A.I. experts I know would say no, not yet, not even close. But I was intrigued.”
Should We Start Taking the Welfare of A.I. Seriously?
As artificial intelligence systems become smarter, one A.I. company is trying to figure out what to do if they become conscious.
