Quiet morning with most staff off for the holidays & few visitors. Spent 2 hours slowly going round our temporary exhibition, enjoying the opportunity to have it to myself.

First day facilitating in my workplace's Xmas jumper. Feeling very festive and warm. Thoroughly recommend getting out your festive jumpers if you work at a chilly heritage site!

The Marbles are a brittle dam of self-justification for UK museums. If they can go back, then everything else could.

NEW BLOG POST!

What do you do when your historic site does not have any queer history to interpret, but you want to expand the inclusion? I keep coming back to this question and I finally have an answer:

Question for people here on Bluesky:

What museums are displaying medieval and/or early modern art in the most exciting and engaging ways for you right now? What do you like about their displays, interpretation, etc?

Facebook reminded me that I've been working with schools for 2 years...

In that time, I've worked with schools across:
- 3 subjects
- 4 jobs
- 7 sites
- All Key Stages

That first delivery seems so long ago, & yet so little time has actually passed.

If there was heavy rain around 3pm, a previous workplace would always get flooded by teens from the local school until the sky cleared. I don't think "rain" was listed as a reason for visiting on our visitor survey tho!
Do you know why people are in your building is a question that comes up in wayfinding research with museums.

Please can one Halloween pass in which some museum somewhere doesn't think it's a great idea to post actual human remains as a "weird spooky object" all over their socials.

Archivists of twitter(uk), could you help me? We need a few people with experience of managing digital records to join focus groups about digital asset registers: do you have one, are you building one, how's it going, what do you wish you'd done better?
