It may depend on the era. During my brief time in radio long ago, VOA was talked about by the newscasters as the workplace of last resort and was generally thought of as a font of propaganda. To be fair, that might have been newsroom humor.

Years ago while researching the WWII era, I stumbled across records about physicals for the draft. Turns out that doctors were horrified by the general health of the men they examined. That changed some of my own assumptions about the past.

Yes! I've been thinking about that lately. The genre also cultivated contempt and elevated bad behavior, basically its whole reason for being. And of course it gave us the current president. The podcasters built on that legacy.

Maybe decide what issues you're passionate about first. Then look to see how they're affected. Anything you care deeply about is bound to feel the impact. Act according to your vision and values rather than reacting to theirs.

True, but Trump considers it an honor. The cover of Time has long been one of his fetishes. Seems reason enough to deny it to him regardless of how influential he's been.

Given how often this discussion resurfaces, maybe it's time for Time to change its policy.
