The problem with writing code that processes millions of records weekly is that you have plenty of chances to encounter "one in a million" errors that you didn't anticipate... multiple times... in the same week.

Oh look! An exciting new way to deceive anyone wanting to pay extra in between their automatic payments into not actually paying extra and staying in debt longer!

For the longest time, when opening a new contact lens box, this perforation would never tear, and I'd end up with shreds of paperboard stringing between the two halves of the seam. So... a perfect tear is good luck... So I shall have 45 days of good luck and clear vision.

'tis the season where the neighborhood completely and egregiously ignores everything about outdoor electrical safety in the name of temporarily putting lighting and an array of ridiculous animatronic inflatables on the lawn while simultaneously electrifying any wet grass and puddles in the area 🫠

What a fun way to spend a Saturday night. Now hopefully my infotainment system will stop crashing every few minutes when I use my wireless dongle.

So... the fishy thing about the "government" accounts that recently showed up on BlueSky is that the usernames aren't the proper ".gov" domains for those entities, which really makes them seem unofficial or illegitimate. Also the government is shut down so who created them? This doesn't smell right.

I'm still against going back to the office more than the 10% that is in my job description, but those days are significantly less awful when you take your own premium keyboard and mouse to avoid using the awful "standard issue" ones provided by the company.

I just used Copilot Live to test out that Truck Thor line and it sounded genuinely amused. Either I'm funny or the AI is gaslighting me to think I am 🤔

Seriously though, why did it sound like it was holding back a chuckle? We have either arrived in the uncanny valley or we're hearing what we expect

It seems like over the last two weeks, every large truck that drives by on the busy road in front of the house seems to be picked up and shaken by the invisible hand of some mythical Truck Thor just for funsies.

I feel like I lose a few brain cells every time I hear someone say "H-T-T-P-colon-backslash-backslash..."

I need a photographer to walk around behind me saying things like "Hey, lean on your arm like that again for a second."

Working out in an empty gym is nice unless you spent the entire day working at home by yourself and were really looking forward to at least seeing your coach. 🫠

Realization: Healthcare FSAs are real-world The Price Is Right for annual out of pocket medical expenses. Get as close to the target without going over and you win a modest low-effort tax benefit. Go over and you lose ... *sad trombones* ...

In adulting news, I followed my financial advisor to his new job. Got a call on Friday saying that I'm his first to transfer and have everything funded. Told him congrats (because he did the parts I don't understand, I just filled out some online forms and created a password) and went on my day.

Don’t ever let the Trump Administration tell you they support the First Amendment. This is a shocking violation. The United States Government has no authority to tell people in this country what to say or not say.

There's no other way to say this... making a huge deal about starting a meeting at 2:55 promptly feels a bit contemptuous when most of the rest of the civilized world rarely starts a meeting at a minute that does not end in 0.
