I realized that some of the skills would be a bit pointless without this feature, and so I prioritized adding ranged weapons that consume ammunition! Judiciously edited video demo:

One thing I noticed while playtesting is that a lot of the combat in #Mnemosyne ended up being 1v1. This meant either the player character being smushed by an NPC much higher level than them, or steamrolling a trash mob. Decided to prioritize adding NPC followers...
