Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.”

“Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” #CityMakingMath

One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss
Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

As an editor, I can’t wait to spend twice as long goofing around with this than it would take to just find effects in a library. Seriously.
Adobe’s new method to generate sound from vocal imitations 🤯

Sketch2Sound can create sounds from sonic imitations (i.e., a vocal imitation or a reference sound) via interpretable, time-varying control signals.

Overheard at Greentech Festival 2024: the #LosAngeles2028 #Olympics will be car-free (and parking-free) because of national security and not lofty climate action.

This is the first time I’ve been happy about fearmongering.

This morning I burned the pancakes, sprayed myself in the face with coconut oil, and set off the smoke detector to the soundtrack of a toddler apparently being murdered by a NoseFrida.

If this were a scene from the Mr. Mom script, there would have been rewrites to make it believable.
