MASSIVE SOLAR SPILL, UK Spring 2025!!!
October 4, 2025 at 9:05 AM
Here in the UK this is a typical Autumn demand curve for 24 hours. In winter the peak is 46-48 GW but the low still hovers around 20GW.
Can you see the space where we are all encouraged to charge our EVs? EVs actually make the grid more efficient and cheaper per kWh

Demand RED line is fossil fuels, green is proper renewable, blue is other, grey is international transfers.

I hope they get here soon, we’re being overwhelmed with clean energy. Tomorrow will be the fourth hour of entirely free electricity my supplier is providing in the past 5 days.

The UK says hold our less good and slightly gassy beer. 0% coal and we’re now going after the gas.

That’s why I charge here
August 20, 2025 at 1:02 PM
100, 120, 135, 150, 165.

Nothing special, just the quiet progress of the maximum charging speed of the humble little Volkswagen ID.3 60kWh battery pack since its launch the end of 2020.
5 years, a lot of progress.

UK here, our National Grid Operator provides us with an app showing our records. Our usual total demand in the day is between 25-40GW. I’ve turned the notifications off for coal, as we deleted the last coal power station 9 months ago.

Seems to be quite a few, all of these are working according to the app.

A new solar record was achieved 8th July, which is a mild surprise as it was a very hot day.

UK Gov has just ordered local councils to help facilitate this, with some cash behind it.
July 13, 2025 at 2:13 PM
This is the most important thing. The government need to tell councils they have to let this happen. Most people would be happy to cut the channel themselves and councils could just apply an approved cover. No doubt councils will make each one of these cost £hundreds.

£53 plus VAT in the UK, we don’t pay VAT if installed by trade. Bifacial panel, area of 1.3m squared.

Green line renewalables, Orange line gas, black line wholesale price. Anyone notice a pattern?

Just three news stories today from the UK, where tosspot right wingers are either breaking the law, worrying about flags or giving money back to world ruining billionaires. Right wing cockwombles don’t care about you or the planet, just making themselves richer, stop voting for them.

Excellent news. The 3 stages of EV anxiety are
Range Anxiety
Charger Anxiety
Price Anxiety

We’ve blasted through range and charger anxiety in the UK, the number of chargers and growth is shown below, but now we’re trying to get to the cheap ones, as prices vary from 25p to 95p kWh.

I find this useful after every single post regarding cars being on fire, it’s almost never an EV.
