Credit where it's due: A MAGA supporter in NJ came over to Philadelphia (believe me, that is a challenge for them all by itself) not to cause trouble but to find out what the "left environment" really is. That's big, when a young right-winger starts questioning.

Philadelphia sits on the historical homeland of the Lenape along the west bank of the Delaware River. I grew up with street and neighborhood names derived from Lenape: Manayunk (place where we drink) Tulpehocken (land of the turtles), and my favorite - Moyamensing (place of judgment/pigeon poop). 🧵

From the New York Times live feed (26 minutes ago, Neil MacFarquhar posting: Yuri Ushakov said in a statement that Putin and Trump had a “frank and very constructive” phone conversation about the meeting with Zelensky and the European leaders at the White House. In diplomatic shorthand “frank” often signals that the two sides did not fully agree. The statement said the Russian and American leaders had agreed to appoint more senior negotiators for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, but did not mention whether Putin himself would participate.

The great convenience of Philadelphia for marches doesn't get enough attention. Since the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is lined with flags of all nations on both sides, you can actually track people down - eventually - in a sort of world tour.
