Norfolk based birder/naturalist. Also enjoys a bit of gardening | growing fruit/veg | listening to rock | a good pint of beer and the occasional twitch.
If the project in the Highlands isn’t working. Then surely this project is a waste of time.

I don't think I've seen a photo of 3 diver species in the UK before. Great photo.

That was almost in my garden as I lived in the cottage in Northaw Great Wood. I was in Norfolk the day it was found recovering from a monster hangover. When I got the call I thought it was a wind up. Saw it the next day and every day for the next 3 weeks.

That's an impressive pod, and the drone footage is incredible. Shame drones weren't a thing in the days of the Pride of Bilbao!

Given its size I'd say its a dunlin.

Bit like the eggs that got deliberately stamped on my a man who accessed the nest on St Albans cathedral. Caught on camera, bloke got questioned by police, all went quite.

I'm assuming that the increase in black-faced buntings in the UK over the last 2 autumns is due to a population boom on its breeding grounds. By my reckoning 6 have been ringed in the UK over the last 2 years.

Here's one by me whenever someone uses the word weed: there's no such thing as a weed, it's just a wildflower in the wrong place"

Nice woodcock eye.

A couple of birders heard it call, so that should help with the decision making.

Whats your thoughts on the pipit?

I love the photo of the chimney 🤣

Bizzare how 2 megas from opposite sides of the world turned up with no supporting casts from commoner migrants.

Twitched it after leaving Scillies.

Look like dunlins, black-tailed godwit & ringed plovers.
October 18, 2025 at 6:55 PM
It's a great bird, when you eventually get to see it.
October 15, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Same, otherwise what's the point. Important to record the commoner species for obvious reasons.
