What a truly memorable experience, I don't really have any words so I'll let these images do the speaking #Rarebirds #BirdingScotland #Shetland
Last year I mainly stayed local, apart from Unst in the autumn. This is reflected in my @birdtrack.bsky.social stats. Most frequently birded site was Mulbarton, Norfolk, which I visited 423 times & recorded 61 species. The place where I recorded the most species was Strumpshaw Fen RSPB - 88 species.

It seems that the link posted on our photo of the first guided walk around Prince Freddy’s meadows in January failed to work so here it is again!

We need more donations to help us to restore the meadows and pay back our loan. Thanks to all who have donated!

Our volunteers were out and about planting a native hedgerow on a neighbouring farmers land, who very kindly gave a donation to LOHP for our help. Species included Hawthorn, Field Maple, Hazel, Guelder Rose and Blackthorn. Photo Ellie Beach

An amused black stork #openbeak at Boyton Marshes RSPB last year. It found it funny that it had taken me 50+ years to finally see one in the UK.

Great-tailed Grackle, Holbury, Hants. Stopped off to see this bird last Friday, what a great bird with so much character. It seemed to watch and analyse everything, so glad I saw it.

This tree at the bottom of the garden has a black hole behind it. 6 years I've waited for an egret to fly over and it just happened. I reached for the bins and waited for it to reappear the other side of the tree. True to form, like every other bird, it just vanished. On the garden list as egret sp!

Double world tick day today in Hampshire. Killdeer in the morning at Ripley and Grey-tailed Grackle at Holbury in the afternoon. Killdeer gave us a bit of a scare, we'd just parked up and were halfway along the track when news came it that it had flown off. 10 minutes later it was back..phew!

Took this photo in January 21 in the farmland around #Mulbarton I dismissed it as a pale phased buzzard at the time as the tail pattern was poorly defined. Having seen this photo today I'm questioning my original id..would love to hear views of others.

A productive ramble around the local farmland #Mulbarton with my first flock of golden plover on the ground (only fly overs until now). A few metres over was a covey of 5 grey partridge..a Mulbarton tick for me and has only taken 6 years to find them 😀 Lots of thrushes in the hedgerows too.

Quite stunned at the lack of waders on Titchwell beach. I remember a time when there were thousands, for as far as you could see. Today there were only a few hundred. Only a handful of redshank on the freshmarsh, probably due to the high water levels. Lots of ducks though, which were nice to see.
