A great democratic feature of SA law (s 16B of the Parliamentary Committees Act) is that Parliament MUST, on presentation of a petition of 10,000 signatures, conduct an inquiry in relation to the petition’s ask. 👍👍👍 #democracy #auspol #saparli

Barton Deakin Kingston went to London in 1899 to gain approval for 6 States to federate & create #Australia. Queen Victoria insisted on having reserve power to sack an Australian PM who was not 'appropriate'. Kerr used that power to dismiss #Whitlam after advising Queen Elizabeth of his intention.

My thanks to all who signed my Petition to #Parliament seeking referendum to add preamble to #constitution saying what it means to be Australian. It now goes to Ministry & so my task is to enlist help of MP's in encouraging @albomp.bsky.social to hold referendum at time of #Election 2028.

Yesterday, in reply to a question about #FOI, @albomp.bsky.social went out of his way to take a swipe at me. His words were unbecoming of a PM, but I’m glad my #transparency efforts are getting under his skin. It shows our anti-secrecy campaign is having an impact. #auspol

This is the best option of keeping constitutional conversation alive in Australia following the failure of @albomp.bsky.social to take any action for future constitutional change in Australia. We can’t afford to be complacent or apathetic about our nation’s future. #australia #future #vision

Spot on David. I have written the Preamble because I have not yet met anyone who can tell me what it means to be an Australian.
This preamble could lead to the first constitutional change since the successful referenda of 1977. It will mean we can answer the question about what it means to be an Australian. #preamble #constitution #Australia
I have made petition to Australian #Parliament seeking #Referendum to add Preamble to #Constitution setting out our national values. Need your support. Please click below, read preamble & sign. www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/.... Need at least 1000 signatures covering all States. Thanks for your help.
