Very apt analysis.
I'm extremely hesitant to use biological concepts as conceptual models, but I do think there's something to the idea of "ideology" as an organism.
They can defend themselves and replicate like pathogens.

Yet another plea to people who are using or following people off follow-farming hashtags like #NoDemUnder1K, #NoDemUnder5K, #BlueCrew, #FBR, etc etc: please do not do that, it's how disinformation operations work. I'm already seeing accounts in those hashtags that are likely disinformation ops. 1/

I just want to clarify why I am so tenacious about the particular subject of licensed and board certified doctors spreading lies and conspiracy theories.
Unlike them, I’ve been caring for patients in the ER throughout the pandemic. I’ve seen their disinformation kill people and it’s unacceptable.
