Tuxley- 8yo, unaltered, male, 75lbs Meet Tuxley! He came to BARCS on 9/11 as a stray. Tuxley is such a distinguished gentleman. He knows “sit” and just moseys along on the trails. He is such a sweet guy, and if you sit down next to him he likes to move in close for some hugs and pets. He also appears to be housebroken. Unfortunately, Tuxley is getting more and more stressed in his kennel everyday. Tuxley does great with his dog friends politely coexisting, loosened for play bows at a handler and other dogs, and engages in chase play! He does show some panting/pacing. Upon examination, Tuxley presented with small dermal masses on his back, bilateral otitis, multiple epulis in mouth, and dental disease. Tuxley is available for immediate rescue pick up. All dogs presented as being underweight. it was also reported that the Spec may resource guard food from people other dogs. But he lived with a small dog and a large dog and did well otherwise. He even lived with cats and did well! Here at the shelter Spec is a happy go lucky pup that is eager to go on walks and be with his handler. He is very very interested in food and will jump up at his handler for food pretty strongly but we are hoping that as he puts on weight this behavior will lessen. Upon veterinarian examination, Spec presented as emaciated and flea infested, he had crust/scabs on the inside of his ears and a previous foreign body surgery per the owner. Due to the medical needs of Spec at this time we are hoping to place him with a rescue organization asap! Max needs a new foster placement. The resident dog isn't his biggest fan and the foster family have a lifestyle change coming soon in mid September, so we need to move him before then. Max is about 40lbs, neutered, up to date on his shots and about 4 years old. He gets along with other dogs but does prefer his humans. Once attached, he'd like to follow you everywhere. He is housebroken, loves car rides, adores his squeaky toys, stays close to his people in the yard, has a strong recall, medium energy, and no real prey drive. He's met chickens and didn't seem bothered by them. His original owners said he lived with 2 cats, though only briefly, so he isn't fully cat tested. He can be a little nervous when meeting new people on his "property", but once he warms up he's happy to play and engage with them. So slow introductions are best for him. In Baltimore City, MD: Extremely matted senior fella seeking a fresh start - Baltimore, MD
Bentley - 14 years old, unaltered male, 13lbs Bentley was found as a lost dog with a extremely matted coat. We were able to track his microchip to an owner but due to Bentley's condition, animal control decided they could not send him back home. Our medical staff were able to shave some of the matts off to hopefully, get him feeling better! On his initial exam, he also presented with otitis, ocular discharge, and a SDF/DDF rupture with dermal wounds on the left hind leg. A full medical summary can be provided upon request. In Baltimore City, MD: Sad pup suffers partial loss of ear due to severe fly strike - BARCS, Baltimore MD

Buster Scruggs- 4 years old, unaltered male, 34 lbs Animal control officers were alerted for a extremely think dog in a pen behind a lot. When they approached the dog, they could see his hips, ribs, spine and a severe fly infestation. He was also bleeding from his ears. There were 2 other dogs on the property, as well. Officers knocked on the trailer door but did not get a response. The property was in terrible condition with at least 10 dog crates scattered around, piles of feces and unclean water. Another dog was then found in a crate inside of the garage with no water, flooring or airflow. All of the dogs were removed from the property and transported to the shelter for further care. Buster Scruggs was among these dogs and is now seeking a cozy home. On his initial medical exam, he presented with severe fly strike, a missing part of his ear, otitis, dermatitis and fleas. He is currently being treated and a full medical summary can be provided upon request. When tested with other dogs, Buster was a but under-socialized. He was tense, avoidant and sniffed around the area but did participate in some play. He did do a bit of mounting which was hard to steer. Please let us know if your organization can help!
