ZOMG LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE SHALE

Okay, so the Burgess Shale is a fossil bed in British Columbia that contains a whole bunch of fossils of weirdass creatures from the Cambrian era, over 500 million years ago. But the great thing about the shale is that it has fossilized SOFT PARTS!

A10 I guess a house boat on Lake Powell Glen Canon National Recreation Area. It was odd to float on a flat lake where there should have been a river. #parkchat

What's sad is I can remember the days that we needed to get into the park by 4pm if we wanted a Friday night camping spot in the Watchman campground (no reservations) #parkchat

Sufficient, sustainable funding with greatly improved accessible transportation as a goal would be a start #parkchat

A6 Probably an Aug visit to Paradise at Mt Rainier. The lot was so full, then a lighting storm moved in & the rangers had to get everyone off the trails. Huge downpour that turned to hail & then a washout closed the road as people were trying to leave. #parkchat

A4 I'd go back to Escalante for wow factor but I grew up with the Blue Ridge Parkway - designed as a windshield park. Much more to see if you get off the road and into the forests #parkchat

A2 We've had friends ride from Seattle to Glacier NP on the train - I think it goes right to the park. Always thought it would be fun, but the car was more practical #parkchat

A1 Many times. Once flew to Las Vegas for a back county trip to the Grand Canyon & the airline lost my back w most of my gear. They asked where to deliver it when it showed up, I said 20 miles west of the North Rim Visitor Center. Was able to borrow enough, still a great trip. #parkchat

Thanks, I've been hoping good to hear from people who know more about this history, I am hoping it's fairly accurate. Sounds like we lost a good leader way too soon. #parkchat
