Compared to trump, Richard Nixon was a warm and fuzzy much beloved guy.

I’ve been watching presidential approval rates since 1972. I’ve NEVER seen anyone as hated as trump is.

Why should his modern day minions behave any differently?
I mean, we don't own the moon. That's not how this works, at all.

Using a little known method of constitutional amendment. Fully recognized and approved by the Founders
Article 1, Section 9 & 10 have been removed from the official Govt website on the US Constitution. Among numerous points:
•Section 9 forbids suspending The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus
•Section 10 forbids ex post facto laws

This better be a joke. Ignoring these is full blow dictatorship

Past experience strongly indicates that we’re screwed.

The only reason we dodged 5 million dead from covid was that trump had someone sane in his first stab at destroying America that slipped the vaccine fast track document into a stack.

Thank God trump doesn’t read before he signs.

We’re not very nice people. As a group. Obviously we have some kind and generous individuals BUT, as a group, American voters are ignorant assholes. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I grew up in Europe and when I first heard about coworkers donating their sick days to a sick coworker in this country I didn’t understand. What?In one of the richest countries in the world you are done if you are seriously sick and no coworker to donate their sick days? How is this possible?

About 16 years ago the right wing lunatics (who used to be the “fringe”) went into hyperdrive outrage mode because…wait for it…President Obama used Dijon mustard instead of the “patriotic” yellow variety.

Ah…the good old days.

We’re very close to the point where you’re pretty safe just assuming that any right wing politician you might have to deal with is a sexual predator.

If you were to literally pick any weekday from the last 7 months, I guarantee that if President Obama had done any ONE of the horrible/scandalous things that trump did on the chosen day republicans would have been howling for his blood. They would have funded an election cycle over that one thing.

Evidence that proves beyond any doubt that trump was directly involved in Epsteins criminal will further endear him to his followers.
On Truth Social, Trump falsely claimed the “Epstein Files” were made up by Comey, Obama & Biden, but federal probes happened under Bush (2006–2008) and Trump (2019).

If it’s proven he went to Epstein’s Island, his goose is cooked.

I think that’s the plan
I keep thinking about this headline and story from Esquire in 2004.

Focus here is stem cells, but the sentiment and phrasing are equally apt today (although you can strike "briefly")

All I want is to go back to a time when politicians issued public denials of corruption rather than gleefully admitting to it on national tv. Is that too much to ask?
“So this is purely a political move… why not get rid of gerrymandering and put the power in the hands of voters?”

Republican Rep. Brian Harrison as no answer for that. Because they need it rigged, as he freely admits here.

Yeah. We’ve known this was happening for a really long time.

“This generation has altered the composition of the atmosphere on a global scale through a steady increase in carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels.”

President Lyndon B. Johnson
Special Message to Congress, February 1965
We are turning Earth into a unlivable Hot House Earth
Earth was about 2.65 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 1.47 degrees Celsius) warmer in 2024 than in the late 19th-century (1850-1900) preindustrial average.

The 10 most recent years are the warmest on record.

FDR gave us the New Deal

LBJ gave us the Great Society

Those programs saved lives and kept millions of Americans out of poverty

The republicans gave us the shaft and tried do worse. The only thing in their way has been the Democratic Party
August 5, 2025 at 9:59 PM
That’s probably the plan
Sure, on the one hand, this will make people worse off and contribute to climate change, but on the other hand it means higher demand on the energy grid which raises electricity prices for us all! 🥳

Lesson other states should learn:

1. Raise taxes on wealthy people

2. Use revenue to make your state a better place to live

3. Wealthy people will move to your state

4. Mission accomplished
1. The extra marginal tax rate will affect millionaires' daily lives almost not at all, which is why in reality none of them would leave the state.

2. When you have this much money, your accountant/financial folks are already making you as tax efficient as possible.

Warren should have pointed out that her state, Massachusetts, raised taxes on millionaires not by 2% like Mamdani wants, but by 4%. The result? Massachusetts saw a 39% INCREASE in millionaires, a drop in poverty, & a growing economy.
