Not thrilled with the repetition of “Red” - “red death”, “swirled with darkest red” - but want to avoid “crimson” or “scarlet”. And given that I’m talking about blood any comparison with blood is entirely redundant

I might be wrestling to actually get the words down onto the page (“Get off Bluesky then!”) but I have had an absolute brainwave when it comes to the final chapter. I’m incredibly pleased with it, and hopefully soon I actually get to write it
