I think everyone has Canada wide calling on cell phones now.
If you still use a landline, long distance is probably still some ridiculous price.
And if you call outside of the country, use WhatsApp. There's absolutely no need to pay long distance fees anymore.

There are methods.
The whack it with a wooden spoon method gives good results but makes a huge mess.
The underwater method makes less mess but sucks away some of the delicious juice.
They buy the seeds already separated is the easiest but doesn't give you the smug satisfaction of doing it yourself.
