Happy Halloween from MSU Entomology! 🎃

Meet the “Halloween beetle” (Harmonia axyridis), an invasive ladybug look-alike with an M-shaped marking on its pronotum. Introduced to control aphids in the early 1900s, it’s now common across North America.

MSU entomologists Anthony Cognato and Sarah Smith traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to collect over 12,000 bark beetle specimens, expanding MSU's A.J. Cook Collection to include more than 2,200 species of these beetles!
