A reminder that Jewish practice isn’t all or nothing. You’re not “religious“ or “not.“ You don’t “keep Shabbat“ or “not.” It is legitimate to build a meaningful practice that is reflective of your beliefs and values, and to interpret Jewish practices in creative (and ever evolving) ways.
"The totalitarian world is a world of answers rather than questions." - Milan Kundara

Judaism encourages us to ask questions - at the Seder & every day. We are never to acquiesce to “the way things are” without asking serious questions about whether things OUGHT to be that way.

Hope is not wishful thinking or waiting—it is an action, a process.

Hope doesn’t come after the difficulty; it emerges from it. It is found not in certainty but in uncertainty.

We are a virtual, liberal Beit Midrash ("house of study").

Watching CTV days before the Ontario election. I'm aware that the ads for Bonnie Crombie (the Liberal leader) have subtitles, and the ads for Doug Ford (the Conservative leader) don't.

As a person who doesn't hear well, that says a lot about which candidate cares about me.

We should all be condemning Kanye.

We should all be condemning N*zis.

But we must also take action against those who are normalizing this hatred and antisemitism: Donald Trump and the Republican politicians who refuse to hold him accountable.
