I think about Ebert’s review of The Mummy all the time: “There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it.”
There is sometimes a difference between having a generally good/fun moviegoing experience as a viewer or critic and the film actually being good.

For many people, watching “Andor” feels pacifying, @xoxogossipgita.bsky.social writes, “as if watching it is a replacement for joining a protest, their fandom for the rebel alliance a stand-in for their politics in the real world.”
Opinion | Watching ‘Andor’ Is No Substitute for Actual Resistance
I have always found the praise for the show’s revolutionary politics to be at odds with the means of its production.
