12+ degree heating weeks Papua New Guinea and west coast of Australia. Extensive coral bleaching is on going and temperatures are still increasing in these areas and degree heating weeks are increasing for the north coast of Australia. Great Barrier Reef is warming as well #coralbleaching #Australia

1. Atlantic warm anomalies concentrated Sub-tropics
2. ENSO. neutral/weak-La-Nina Cool pool strength & orientation in question. Warmth off west coast of Central & south America could out compete WCAR/GOM.
3. How cool does the MDR/equator of Atlantic get.

Looking @ MJJ period SSTs show a neutral to cool neutral /weak la Nina, -PDO and Atlantic warmth concentrated in the sub-tropics over the MDR along with a negative -IOD.

NOAA is changing the status of Pillar Coral (Dendrogyra cylindrus) from threatened to endangered under the Endangered Species Act. When I went on vacation in the USVI they were everywhere, when I went for my MS at UVI in 2019, there are no big ones left. One of the harder corals in restoration

not one of the estuaries I am currently working in, it was once the opening of the Merri prior to the water way being altered which has no seagrass. This estuary though water looked like death, had massive amount of birdlife and even had patches of seagrass though the patches didn't look good

2 days of fieldwork @ the SURRY estuary, second estuary done... Next week the Moyne. Certainly starting to see a pattern of which estuaries have seagrass and which don't

Old man winter has been putting a clinic after the past handful of years sleeping. Another round of arctic air is about to move into the lower 48. A cold front swings through this weekend, spreading showers later saturday/saturday night this sets up our next wave of low pressure late sunday

First winter storm of the northeast is happening Thanksgiving weekend, its the start of a good pattern for ski areas, Ski country is getting snow and then cold temps move in for snow making. Highly welcomed after the last few seasons.

12z ensembles for both GEFS/EPS show weak system developing of the AEW that will be fully off the coast of Africa tonight. They also all show if it develops turning north before making it to the Islands. EURO/ICON/CMC operationals do not show formation of the storm with the GFS on an island
