It's not just reporting data. Its getting people worked up about it. The media is not running stories every day about how incompetent and poorly run the economy is. They report some small polls and then think they're being objecting and move on to the next fixation

And yet people were way more up and bothered by a medium sized fascist podcaster and debate lord being killed, more than they were about the school shooting in Colorado the same day that killed four kids. Why? Because the media ecosystem drove attention and got people worked up about their pet story
