The ICJ has now said what so many have been saying for months - that Israel has NOT proven that UNRWA’s employees are “Hamas” and that the org - which continues to be blocked from entering Gaza by Israel - is vital to providing aid to the Strip. bsky.app/profile/drme...

Well the Trump admin has apparently charged so-called members of “Antifa” - which isnt even a group - w/material support for terrorism, which doesn’t exist as a federal charge for domestic groups, let alone non-existent ones. The imperial boomerang is coming hard and fast apple.news/AKjoMnscgSVW...

This isnt an end to genocide. This isnt “peace.” This is the most hegemonic, coercive project stripping Palestinians of their most basic rts, inc their right to self-determination. Still, Palestinians need a reprieve. This must & should end. Still, this ending is coerced and unlawful under intl law

Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif announcing the last ceasefire in January 2025. He was an icon and a hero. Israel assassinated him in August - one of over 300 Palestinian journalists killed by Israel in the last 2 years. May god bless his soul. May he be announcing this ceasefire in heaven.

On top of all this there's this entire section devoted to "Justice in the Trump Era" - he actually appended this to the end of his decision. Has any other judge ever done this? There's plenty not to like in the dicta - lots & lots of American exceptionalism - but the bulk of this is exceptional

In her opinion, the federal judge clearly and concisely demonstrated why the plaintiffs and the Trump admins are out of their mind and why UNRWA and the defendant UN officials are absolutely immune under intl law.

Freaking out is not the word. The Israelis are shitting themselves at this. Hamas has, so far, been able to fully flip the script with a message that was so subtly crafted that it seems to give Trump what he wants (or so he thinks) without actually doing so

Also obviously - the memorandum targets activities that are broad and undefined. What the hell is “civil disturbance?” If there is existing law that defines it, it’s not mentioned here.

Obviously, this framework is highly politicized. “Domestic terrorism” is only defined in terms of political ideologies that are opposed to the Trump administration’s agenda

These are the 2 routes. Section 1702(a) is more limited and does not require that the regulated entity be foreign. Section 1702(b) is far more expansive but does require a hook to a foreign state or national. So, if Trump goes w/route 2, then there will, again, need to be a foreign hook

That emergency needs to be based abroad, in whole or in substantial part, but in can be to the national security, foreign policy, or the economy of the United States - there is no definition of what constitutes an emergency, meaning the president has a wide berth here
