Thanks Martine but don't distract yourself from your own work. This research will be a marathon, rather than a sprint. I've been having a look and found two wills so far, only one of them named any enslaved people, so I've noted them down. I need to build the "White" tree to find the related records

It's quite incredible Martine. The descendants of the "European" lines are reasonably well documented, those from the African American lines are (as you'd know) less so. I just read one report that said the "family" freed over 1,000 enslaved people at the end of the Civil War.

That's a pity. But I can appreciate the time demand. It's a pity there isn't something less formal, like a singing circle that you could join
