Half a dozen solar panels and a 5A charge rate will add about 20 miles during the sunniest part of each day. It really depends on where your car is during the middle of the day.

Ok, I could have been more precise. There are many occupations where people have a skillset, but typically lack deep knowledge of the domain. Politics isn't unique in this respect.

Qualified yes, those are the rules. Competent? Perhaps not always. Even teaching at uni I was asked what I wanted to teach, never what I was competent to teach.

Half of all households receive a greater value in benefits than they pay in taxes. That would be true if taxes were negligible or huge. It's just how things are.

The winter fuel allowance could be funded entirely from taxes on energy companies. As a rebate, so only genuine customers get it if eligible.

Most benefits are affordable if taxes are adjusted appropriately. For example we could give everyone a free bus pass, funded by private vehicle taxes.

My web development students don't even know what files they own are. We have to review file structure every assignment that requires JavaScript or CSS.

They live out of their downloads folder like it's a van by the river.

This is especially true for those who became remarkably rich (no names) but didn't feel their life got hugely better. Oh, and also those who didn't, and blame others rather than their own lack of effort or ability.
