Having then recently learned his mother had painted this rather wonderful picture, I remember thinking Johnson’s claim that he enjoyed painting passengers on to empty wine boxes he’d made in to buses might just be a rare frank & honest response. “If only he’d made his hobby his career” I wished.

Last week driving from Bristol to Liverpool, a journey we have made countless times, we diverted for the first time to the New Gallery in Walsall. I wish I’d known their collection before, and share with you in case you dont know it either. What a joy & the staff are all great. I will return, often

This takes me back to the instructions that reached my desk in 2003 from the impressive team at Bristol Trading Standards.
How it started:

Consumption of red wine in France has reduced by 90% since I enjoyed my first glass. I’m hearing use of activated carbon more a thing in wine making just now. No use if French youth continue moving away from wine of all colours in favour of artisan beer.
This year my Xmas pud brown ale is French!

Oh, I was trying to remember where I got that recipe, thank you! This was the 2022 version, home grown turban squash baked with yoghurt garlic and gruyere made after first seeing you post about it

So I just checked, here’s the current special at a local place for us. And always plenty of veggie and vegan options too. But the food offer in our city is always high, very lucky.

Thank you! Sorted here for truffle oil!

Here is another Liverpool MP, @kimjohnsonmp.bsky.social
posting on Facebook, with a clear and concise explanation that her colleagues either can’t understand or don’t want to hear, you decide.

Ah thank you, many fond memories of extended family summer Sundays at the beach in Formby. Already camera shy I’m the baby who can barely be seen being held by the dark haired woman (my late Mother) on the left. Family cars parked on the road above, no doubt polished & gleaming ready for the trip.

Hehe, good find! I plan to spend more time in Nîmes. Tempted walking past this menu we popped in & enjoyed a great tasting lunch in a friendly atmosphere at Bistrot des Arènes in Rue Bigot last year, do you know it? I was not expecting such flavour at this price, enjoyed being proved wrong.

In balance of convenience court gave particular weight to Defendant’s deliberate decision to sidestep scrutiny & public engagement that would accompany an application the LPA told them they believed was needed in 2020. You wouldn’t know it from media reports, but other factors had only ltd weight.
August 20, 2025 at 10:56 AM
I haven’t seen in media reports any point that could potentially be referred for clarification?
Obviously the jury could see and hear the act - what was said & how - but seems reasonable to infer they were not sure he had the requisite belief to be convicted of the offence he was charged with?

This is a more interesting snap. It’s a hand made collage sign we saw when visiting the Nikolaikirche where Bach was music director. I was astonished the East German state allowed the display of a swords into ploughshares image. Discovered these Monday meetings a cover for discussing human rights.

Anyway, whatever the answer, here’s proof that even with a then state of the art Cannon Sureshot in my hands I was already established as a poor photographer. Taken just after the conclusion of a ten day visit to Leipzig in 1984. Pretty sure the state will have retained this section!

I love this combination of flavours, so tasty and refreshing. Apologies for the underwhelming picture (it looked much better in real life, I promise!), but we also make on watermelon discs as a hand held appetiser to have with summer drinks, drizzled with balsamic glaze. Goes down a treat.

We got a Jarvis when they first came out, good kit but not used much for standing now. I configured stacking barrister style cases set up with small desk unit at normal height for lap top use. Above that I had (now in the loft!) a customised double height barrister doorless unit for standing use.

Hi Tristan, this item inaccurately says the school has to take on 40% of its own costs. In fact the school gets 100% of its costs. See attached. Final costs not yet determined, but 60% payable now on account. Once final amount assessed, 90% of it will be payable by Ms Welham & the other 10% by BCC

It will be interesting to see if the CPS prosecute. I’m tending to view that for suspicion to be *reasonable* an article would have to indicate support for the type of action relied upon in proscribing the organisation, not just use of two ordinary words that are consistent with peaceful protest.
July 19, 2025 at 8:45 AM
When seeking support for proscription Cooper assured MPs that peaceful protest would be unaffected, so it’s very fair to ask her.
On my viewing the Kent Police “2/10 can get you arrested” checklist must contain things that don’t arouse reasonable suspicion, but this needs urgent clarification.
July 17, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Oppressive because, looking at 1A, mere private support isn’t enough to found the offence, but asking facilitates an answer that might, eg if person answers yes in public & seeks to explain why they do then might have all ingredients of an offence that would, but for Police, not have been committed.
July 17, 2025 at 12:28 PM
Also that government “dictated” the law & they must follow it. But the policing here is inept, I dread to think what the other items are on officer 2’s “2/10 gets you arrested” checklist.
The Home Secretary’s assurance only has value as plausible deniability if operational guidance contradicts it
July 17, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Oppressive because looking at this mere private support isn’t enough to found an offence, but by asking facilitates an answer that might, eg if person answers yes in public and seeks to explain why they do then might have all ingredients of an offence that would otherwise not have been committed.
July 17, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Yes, so we might think to arouse reasonable suspicion of support would at least require carrying an article etc that objectively conveys support for activities relied upon in proscribing them.
What we see in the video looks to be in line with Home Secretary’s assurance, did the Police miss this?
July 16, 2025 at 12:13 PM
Agree. Chilling. But mere suspicion not enough & Police here directly contravene Home Sec. assurance. No organisation could be proscribed for things we saw here & nothing we saw can be *reasonably* suspected as membership of or support for type of direct action relied upon as basis for proscribing.
