Yeah I need to uninvest from this horror show, but that’s the hypothesis I haven’t seen any refutation of: the richest person in the world simply paid someone handsomely for an account/soft-identity takeover.

The account has attempted to “prove” otherwise multiple times, but it’s never face+audio.

Can’t get over this run. The man is simply a force of nature.

Later in the game he hurdled another LB in open field, and this was all on a braced-up bum knee and coming off a flu.

Turns out he was just in charging mode for the playoffs this entire time.

Then buddy threw it into sport mode.

Not here for the Kirby slander tbh. I watched the full presser and he was a total class act. This was an answer to a question, not an excuse.

The guy seems like an incredible coach: rational, motivated, accountable, professional.

No tears over the SEC’s fall, but Smart is one of the good ones.

People should ofc be held to account for violent crime. Employment of AI for gov't law enforcement seems fraught with civil rights issues though. Scanning against DL's and mugshots seems fine for lead generation, but I worry about 4A encroachments and data collected via mass surveillance.

"It’s up to technologists to ensure that their applications aren’t addictive — maybe by making the interfaces simpler, for example."

As cool as this would be, I don't see the market regulating itself in this way.

The account that posted this looks inauthentic tbh. In any case, the story is not real. Snopes provides detail on how that was determined.

Is the thinking that Bluesky will handle verification directly, or might it be left to third parties through the current domain system? Curious if there would be appetite for the bsky app throwing a badge onto accounts with handles vended from a "trusted" domain.

$345 million in attorney's fees payable by Tesla is eye popping. With $100B+ on the line, one can only assume that this isn't finished yet.

After NIU I'm just happy to be looking at a playoff game in South Bend. Hope J Love is able to heal up through the bye.

But look at what he's already done. Border? Done and dusted.

If this gives him an out on the dystopian mass deportation stuff though then whatever.

Also ran into a fascinating history on the discovery and implementation of fluoridated water on the CDC website www.cdc.gov/fluoridation...

In 1945 they apparently conducted large scale experiments on different cities which is kind of wild.
Timeline for Community Water Fluoridation
Fluoride in drinking water has contributed to the better oral health of the nation for over 75 years

This study is the primary basis of RFK's argument, which correlates lower IQ in children exposed to >2x recommended level. Idk where the cancer claims ucome from. Benefits to oral health seem undisputed. ntp.niehs.nih.gov/whatwestudy/...

So maybe.. step one, first, fund a better study?

Owning a domain that vaguely has someone's name in it isn't the verification. Users are able to verify identities for people who are associated with well known, publicly associated domain names. On Marc Elias's Wikipedia entry, it says he founded democracydocket.com, for example.

How do you mean? It allows users to verify that the identity behind a Bluesky handle is the same as an identity behind a website.

It’s kind of a Harry Potter thing, short for character “Draco Malfoy.” It’s been adopted in rap as well. The artist Future has a song where he talks about the wizard paying other students to do his homework: “Draco season with the bookbag; Rat-tat got a little kickback”
November 26, 2024 at 6:37 AM
Yeah I expect that it will happen over time if adoption is sustained, given that the platform is open. People have been doing some cool things already, like Blacksky (open source) www.blackskyweb.xyz
Blacksky Algorithms

There are already blocklists and third party automated labelers that you can use to moderate your experience. Do you mean something besides this?
